At 67, Patrick returns to the MDS for the third time. After a success in 2011, the 2021 edition very quickly mistreated it; sick, Patrick was forced to stop. Affected in the same year by a long Covid and then a stroke, Patrick did everything to get back on his feet.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so well prepared for a race. I did everything necessary taking into account my abilities, which are no longer what they used to be. Health concerns passed, but the main thing for me was to be here at the start on Sunday morning for a new adventure. I'm going with the idea of doing it by walking, but I'm not stopping myself from running a little on the last two stages if I still have the possibility. I find that we start gently, the first two stages are not too hard. The third is going to be difficult, and we won't have to give everything because there is still a big stage left after. In addition, I am running for a little boy, Tom, who has a rare genetic disease. It gives me another reason to do the MDS. When I have slack moments, I will think of Tom who, I know, has very big ones.“
